9. > DEFINING THE PROJECT PLAN
With the project team established, a detailed project plan should be formulated. The plan should cover the following areas:
- Scope – the scope of the project in terms of functions, records, and coverage should be clearly defined. In defining the scope, it can be useful to state explicitly what will not be covered by the project;
- Timings – a phased or a one hit approach;
- Resources – this should cover people, time required, costs, and skills;
- Responsibilities – the different areas of responsibility, including decision making, should be identified;
- Milestones – the milestones for each phase of the project should be identified for tracking purposes;
- Risks – a risk assessment and strategies for reducing these risks.
